Birthday #22

I love birthdays, but it's unfortunate how some semesters my birthday falls right on finals week! (hopefully this is the last year of that, and that I'll be done student teaching by this time next year, eeek!)

With finals and all today, my birthday has been bomb. Let me tell ya about it.

Last night, we went to Olive Garden. I love soup, I am a soup fanatic, So I told my mom I wanted to go somewhere with soup. Then my brother ryan conned me into going to Olive Garden because that's his favorite place in the world! And by conned, I mean mention it to me, and I gladly said HECK YES. Their soup is so good. So we went last night with Wades Parents, my mom, and all my siblings minus Dani & T, and Glen & Hailey. (missed you guys, kinda!) :)
Got some pretty fun presents, my mama bought me some awesome floral gray and black vintage looking pants and I love them, minus they are too big :( Back to the store for an exchange!! I also got some cute little owls from my MIL~ ADORABLE! I will post pictures ASAP! And wade got me some AWESOME workout clothes! I love them! He also got me this running watch that I've been eye-ing for a long time. It measures distance, time, heart rate (without the moniter! yES) calories and pace. So excited for it, now if only my foot would heal....
So that was last night. We celebrated last night because I was supposed to have a final today from 3:45-6 so I didn;t want to make plans if we weren't going to be back in time. Here's a little background, so maybe you can understand a little bit about my final...

So I'm in a geometry class. In this class, we are required to take 3 proficiency tests. They don't count toward your grade, but you have to pass them in order to pass the class. They are pretty basic and have nothing to do with geometry. They are just negative numbers, exponents, fractions, etc. You have two chances to pass them at the testing center, and if you don't pass them, then you have to go to his office and he has to help you, and then you have one more chance to pass them. They aren't multiple choice, and if you round to the wrong place, forget a decimal or negative sign, the whole problem is wrong. You have to get a 70% to pass

Needless to say, I went to take them. Failed, all three of them. Alrighty then.
Went to take them again. Failed the first, passed the second, failed the third.
OH MY FREAK. I wanted to cry. So what do I do instead. Procrastinate. So Its the last day of the semester and I go in and I take them. Super nervous, because this is my last time to pass them...I didn't even want to hit the submit button on the computer because I was sitting like a loser in my teachers office and he was just waiting....SO I nervously hit enter and I get a 90%. Umm...OKAY LETS CELEBRATE. minus the fact that I still have to take the 3rd one. So I nervously do that, check the answers multiple times, and a little less sure than the first time....finally hit submit. 90% AGAIN! what the freaking heck!? I don't get 90's, on any test. EVER!

So next is the final. the fiiiiiinal. Did I mention that on the last two exams that I got a 40% and a 60%. THATS FAILING! My grade is at a 69.53% right now, and I have to have a C- in order to not have to retake it again. Right now, I'm about freaking out, because clearly I don't know what the heck is going on, I mean a 40% means you wrote your name on the paper! SERIOUSLY, KARLY? This class has been so overwhelming, stressful and beyond frustrating. I've had a tutor, gone to the math lab, NOTHIN' I just dont get this stuff!

So after I'm having a little party about passing my quizzes, I ask him if I can take the final in his office, instead of later in the day (it was 11:00 at the time, what was I going to do until 3:45? Go home? Okay, can't! Live 30 min. away!) So he agreed to let me. All write on by the way, and no multiple choice. (okay, maybe 5 multiple choice) Anyways.

I start filling in what I know (AKA...not much) and then my pencil breaks, and then my compass screw came loose. What the heck. Finished the exam, kept my hand down while I gave it to him, thanked him and walked out. I was hoping I at least got a 60% on it.

After I finished, it was about noon, and Wade and I went to great harvest for lunch. I love that place. Has the best soup ever. (of course) Then we cleaned out the car, which we pretty much live in during the semester... Then we went to work. And that is where the magic happened. I decided to check my grades just to make sure I did all my assignments, and what do ya know? My geometry teacher graded my TEST. what the heck??! What did I get? a 78%!!! Sometimes, when I even DO know stuff, I don't get 78%'s on tests! Maybe I knew more than I thought. Nah. I just studied my brains out this week. This raised my grade from a 69.53 to a 74.88. People, thats a STRAIGHT UP C. Not a C-. Normally, I would be super upset about this, but for this class, I was just so grateful to pass. I said so many prayers and just am really grateful today. That was seriously the best birthday present ever!

And then came home and went to a hardcore spinning class! That was fun. (yes, I wore my new workout clothes, but no, Idid not take a picture of them while I was there. Some of my crazy workout blogger friends take pictures at the gym, but I'm too much of a scaredy cat.) Especially since right after, we met our friends at Kiwi Loco for some FRO-Yo. That was fun too.
Sorry scott and trevor...it cut ya off?
Then we came home, and I just got in my jammies. And am just being super thankful. Thankful that I passed that test. Thankful that I'm done with school for three weeks..Thankful I don't have to take that class again. What a sweet relief.... thankful for friends to celebrate with. Thankful for answered prayers. Thankful for the holiday season..life is just so good right now.
