first ultra sound at 12 weeks

What an emotional day! Today we had our first baby appointment! I called in when I was 8 weeks, and they said they didn't want to see me until I was 12 weeks. So I called back when I was 11 to set up an appointment, and they scheduled it for today. I was excited, but I was also really nervous. Since week 8 and 9, I really haven't been sick at all (and even then, it was just in the mornings) I was having a lot of energy kick back in, and I was back at the gym feeling good. Mornings were 100% better and my appetite was coming back. I kept telling wade, is this what pregnancy is really like? I don't even feel pregnant :(

So we went to the doctor and he was so sweet, he asked me tons and tons of questions, and then told me I was far enough along that we could see the heartbeat. He put the microphone device up to my tummy and moved it around for almost 5 minutes, and couldn't find a heartbeat. :( He told me not to worry and maybe my uterus was tipped backwards, and that sometimes it happens. He kept trying to reassure us that everything was okay, but made it sound urgent that we go to his secretary and schedule an appointment over at the hospital for an ultrasound.

luckily the ultra sound tech was there and he could fit us in right away. I didn't really realize how attached I had become already. I wanted so badly to become a mom and all these negative thoughts were just hitting coming on all at once. the way over to the hospital, is when I started getting emotional and wade just grabbed my hand and told me whatever happens is supposed to happen and we can do it, together.

Anyways, we got all checked in and I got a cool little bracelet thing, which kind of cheered me up a little bit. The tech was a middle aged man who was from iraq...or iran or something, couldn't really understand what he was saying. He was rushing and I was already flustered. Besides the point, I got in there, he put cold stuff on my tummy and then said, "okay, my friend, your baby its there and that red thing beeping on the screen thats you're baby. its alive and its healthy and its well, now i need to do some measurements so just relax and ....okay my friend, you need to stop moving." so then i was really relieved and didn't really listen to much of anything else he was saying, AKA i couldn't understand him. so anyways, the baby is measuring at 12 weeks 3 days and I should be measuring at 12 weeks 2 days, so I'm pretty much right on. My due date is august 23rd and that's pretty cool. We are really excited.

Peanut is a whole 5 CM AKA 2.5 inches in this picture. It was so cute, it was sitting liek it was in the picture and then kicking its feet back and forth, LIKE A REAL BABY. pretty incredible. making me cry right now just thinking about it.
