Practicum/Pregnancy update!!

The past two weeks have been a whirlwind! I don't think I even mentioned anything about school, and that might be saying something!! For my senior practicum (basically student teaching, but only three times a week!), I'm assigned over at Dora Erickson in the 6th grade! I was really nervous when I got the piece of paper that mentioned what grade I was going to teach! For my other practicums, I have only been in 1st grade, so I was excited, but way nervous! But I decided when I first went into teaching that I wanted to teach either 4th or 5th, MAYBE 6th, but how was I to know, I've never taught that before!?

Anyways, the kids are awesome! They are winding down with the school year so the kids are getting a little restless and are ready to be done (me too! ..wait, the semester just started..?) :) But it really is so great to actually be teaching students and not my peers pretending to be students. (that is the hardest/most awkward thing in the world!)

I have a lot of hispanic students in my class almost half!, most students come from broken homes, some students have parents in jail and the school itself is 90% free and reduced lunch! That is huge! But the kids are required to wear uniforms (khaki pants, red/white/blue polo's, no hair dye, no big jewelry..etc) and the school adopted the 7 habits of highly effective people campaign. The 6th graders have stepped up and shown their leaderships skills, and it's really neat to see! Everyone has a chance, and this is EXACTLY why I want to teach! I finally feel like after the last 3.5 years that I'm FINALLY doing what I'm supposed to do, TEACH! Not learn about teaching, not pretend to teach, not write lesson plans about teaching! And it's so great!
What else is new? Oh, that this pregnancy feels like it's been GOING ON FOREVER and also feels like its flying by at the same time? I looked at how much time I have left, and it's only 15 weeks people!?! I only have three months left, and little baby is coming to see me! :) Everyone is still telling me that I don't look pregnant, but I'm seriously feeling it!! Especially after I eat, or when I lay down, or after I run!! She moves a ton in the morning, I think she likes the classroom!! I took these two pictures today, one was this morning before school, and the next was after I got done running 3.5 miles. It's freakin crazy! And my tummy gets really hard, and I always feel like I have to go potty, still!! :) It just depends on the day, and what I eat and what I wear I guess?!
