our first week & some other thoughts

Our little Ivy is 8 days old! She is such a good little baby, I mean, I don't really have anything to compare her to, but she's been so good! She sleeps at night for about four hours at a time, and I feed her and change her cute bum and she's passed out again for another four hours! Here are some pictures from this week. I think I've turned into one of "those" moms who posts tons of pictures of her kid, but she's so tiny and cute and we love her so much, i can't really help it. Last week we took some newborn pictures of her at my moms. I wanted to do them as soon as possible, so she is about 3 days old in these pictures. Totally love them...

what? we love big bows!

so tired after feeding her at 2 AM! :)

Wade started his new job at the school district today. It's the same as what he has been doing at the learning center, but now he gets full benefits which is nice since mama and Ivy are covered already. He is still working at innovative but only for a couple hours after he gets done at the school. He's a hard worker, and it was sad to have him go back to work today. Me and Ivy were a little bored today.

Today was everyone's first day of school. I was supposed to start my student teaching this week as well, so I could graduate in December. I was a little bummed out because everyone was posting pictures of their classrooms and their new students and their cooperating teachers. But sometimes God has different plans for us, and we just have to go with it! I'm lucky to have the opportunity to be a stay at home mom with Ivy, and student teaching can always be put off another semester! (But i WILL finish! i WILL, i WILL, i WILL) We just need to figure out what we are going to do with all this time on our hands! :) Was it a hard transition for you? Someone called me on the phone today and asked if I was missing Wade yet, and I said no....missing school! this is my first semester in almost 5 years that I haven't gone to school! I'm going to learn to love it and I've already set some goals for myself so I can get things done and feel accomplished throughout the day.

I decided to brave the scale today! That was an adventure. i kind of had a number in my head, and my original goal was to lose the baby weight by January 1st, but little do I know how my body works after pregnancy! I stepped on the scale and was only 7 lbs away from my starting weight. I've kept a private blog called "All this has got to go" and it's just been a weight loss journey for me, but since I found out we were expecting, I just neglected it for a while. But I'm ready to start back writing in it again and will be accepting followers if you want to follow me (just leave your e-mail in the comments) and promise not to judge ;) Before I got pregnant, I was right in the middle of where I wanted to be weight-wise. So I'm hoping to lose the 7 lbs and then 15 more and hopefully I'll be where I want to be. :)

Every mom that loves her baby is one of THOSE moms. Welcome to the club. Losing baby weight is interesting, isn't it? Breastfeeding is AMAZING at helping (I'm assuming you're nursing, though I have nothing to base that on lol). I want to follow your other blog too! Kristinadaniellepatton@gmail.com

I do have a word of caution for you and your body expectations though. Your weight fits you differently after having a baby. I weigh 7 lbs less than I did when I first got pregnant, but I look totally different. Just a heads up. Maybe you'll be lucky ;)

get some good books! i almost went crazy because i went from full-time work to nothing, and it was nuts. reading was a nice way to keep me distracted in between all the fun baby stuff :)

She is adorable! My favorite part about newborns is how much they sleep. Oh so nice for Mom! I loved it when I quit work to stay home full time. I stopped about 3 weeks before I had Charlotte. I lived in fear of being in SLC and going into labor and trying to get back to Tooele by myself. But it was a huge relief for me. I was at a stressful job though. I used all my free time to clean and organize since I was hardly home before. I would read. I got a little crafty back then and would make stuff. It was a great time to read my scriputures and study institute manuals. I started exercising more. After Charlotte's 5am feeding I would just stay up and exercise then nap later when she'd nap. Basically do anything you ever wanted to do but never felt you had the time to do. This is the most golden opportunity... first kid, newborn, sleeps like crazy... this will be the most time you have to yourself so don't waste it! :)

You and Wade make absolutely beautiful babies. Good job mama. Enjoy the quieter moments because before you know it they are 6 months and you are trying to do everything you have to do while they sleep. It's okay though, they make the rushing around worth it :-)
Congrats on your weight loss journey pre- baby and I know you will do great post- baby. As someone who has struggled with her weight all her life I admire your strength :-)
