Fourth Of July Weekend

Fourth of July is the best holiday ever! But things sure change once you have kids! Last summer I remember we ran the firecracker 5k, watched the parade, went to lake and rode the jetskis, had a picnic, rode around the river for hours, and watched the fireworks! This year was different! We ran the Firecracker in the morning of course. It was super fun because Mike was there, and we signed Katee up! Also, the wetherbee's signed up at the last minute too!! :) So they were the two newbies this year! And hey, Katee only threw up three times! :) That girl, we should have told her not to eat that bowl of Waffle Crisp, granola bar and piece of toast! ;) Koy dominated us, like always. I'm guessing we finished it in about 30 minutes. We forgot our number with the time chip at the house, and didn't realize it until we were already across town! This is our fourth year running! When we first ran, it was just the two of us, look at all the people we've recruited!

After the Firecracker, we hit up Jamba with Nate and Nicole and then headed home for a nice shower! Then we went to Heise to meet up with my Dad and Lori and we had a BBQ. It was yummy but it was so dang hot! /Seriously! So hot! After we hung around for a bit, we went to Idaho Falls to walk around the river and watch the fireworks! We put Ivy in her stroller and started walking. But about half way around the river, Ivy started fussing..then it turned into crying..then it turned in to screaming..and then turned into something I had never heard before. Just screaching, crying, screaming, yelling, I don't even know. It was like..a painful cry. I tried holding her, Wade tried holding her, we tried water, her bottle, a popsicle, essential oils...EVERYTHING. She screamed like that for 45 minutes straight. I really thought she was going to pass out right in my arms. She kept losing her breath and letting out wimpers. Oh man, it was really sad! So we headed back to where we laid out our blankets and we basically stripped off everything..even her diaper. Once her diaper came off and she was in the shade, she let out a sigh of relief and was fine? I'm pretty sure it was heat exhaustion. I felt so bad...it was sad!

Ivy didn't really love the fireworks. She fell asleep shortly after the above incident, but once that first firework went off, she was wide eyed and screaming again. Then Wade would hold her and she would calm down. There were just certain fireworks that she didn't like. She didn't like the screeching ones and she didn't like the ones that sounded like pop pop pop pop. You know? :)

Overall it was a fun day! We ended up staying the next two nights camping out with Lori and My dad and Brookell and Laven and...Katee and Mike showed up and so did Dani and Ty. It was pretty fun. Oh yeah, and Koy was there. But he always is ;)
