Potty Training part one

Last Monday, I told myself "I'm gonna get this girl potty trained!" and we went out and bought some princess underwear and princess stickers and gummy bears. Monday, I started off by taking her potty every 20 minutes, whether she had to go or not. We practiced saying "We don't go potty in our princess k?" We started saying it so many times, she started finishing our sentences. The way she says princess sounds like, "Prin-mence" and I hope she never learns the right way to say it. ha hahaha. I had in my mind that if I was consistent for 3 days, then she would be fully trained.

Well, turns out that sometimes when you're cooped up inside on a summer day on a 20 minute timer, you go kind of crazy. So by the second day, we took a break and went to the splash pad near our house. Which is supposedly a BIG no-no when potty training...but whatever. This is where she drank plenty of nasty chlorine-recycled water. Which leads to...DIHAREAH!
(p.s) I spelled that so wrong that even the spell check doesn't know what to do. Sorry.

Have you ever potty trained a kid with that stuff? In Jimmy Fallons words, Ew.

I wanted to give up, but I didn't. And I kept taking her. And we had lots of accidents. Accidents that I don't even know where real accidents, and maybe a little gas-passing-opps-i-pooped accidents. Which are still equally gross.

I was still consistent, but put her in diapers if we went out, and during naps/bedtime. And by Sunday night, she was finally telling us when she had to go. It's now Tuesday (8 days in) and we haven't had any accidents since Sunday. She tells me when she needs to go, and we run to the potty! So I'm hoping this is it and we just need to continue the process! She is doing awesome! But I will keep you updated, because lets me honest.. toddlers are basically unpredictable.

Ahhh! This lit a fire under my butt. I've got to get on getting Grace potty-trained. I'm dreading it, but I know she's ready. Good job, mama!

My kids are so stubborn I could never get them to do it that young. With my calling and helping my mom after her knee replacement I had to give in with going back to diapers with Jack. We spent 3 days cooped up in the house and the longest he went was like 5 or 6 hours. And now is just not good for us so who knows when I'll get back to it. Way to go Ivy! She needs to teach Jack a thing or two! :)
